Doing dull administrative tasks is not why you chose your profession. That’s the clear feedback we’ve received from pilots.
Boeing 737 first officer Maximilian Doberenz approached us with a bold idea. Mobile devices are able to detect motion, so why not use this to detect flight off/on times? We took up the challenge and in a few weeks, introduced pilots around the world to a new RB logbook feature that automatically detects aircraft takeoff and landing.
RB Logbook is the digital pilot logbook, reinvented. Try RB Logbook now – it’s free for training and the first 250 block hours.
This innovative feature was released during the Coronavirus outbreak and as a result, our efforts to test it in aircraft were hindered. We solved this by using a Telsa Model S - the closest thing to flying on the road! Using the motion of the car accelerating, we were able to check if flight times were being recorded.
We are very excited about this feature and would love to hear your feedback and ideas on how to improve it even more. And of course, we thank Max for his awesome contribution!
