Sam Chui is one of the world’s most followed aviation bloggers. Sam has traveled to over 100 countries, flown over 2,000 flights and logged over 3 million miles around the globe in the pursuit of his lifelong passion. In addition to contributing aviation commentary to global media outlets such as CNN, Bloomberg News and a range of aviation related media, Sam has over 2.3 million YouTube subscribers and his videos have been viewed more than 500 million times. Sam helped introduce Airside to the world through his online article “Introducing Airside – A Great Platform to support Pilots”.
A commercial pilot with Ryanair, Maria Pettersson aka Pilot Maria is also an Internet sensation who inspires her 5430,000+ Instagram followers with her yoga loving, globe-trotting exploits. On Airside, Maria spoke to viewers in a video about the importance of keeping your CV up to date. Using Airside’s Resume Builder, she took viewers through how easy it is to do and recommended the same for other pilots, whether currently furloughed or new to the profession, who want to be ready for job opportunities.
Charles Ferdinand Junior aka Pilot Ferdi, is a commercial pilot flying the Learjet 45 XR business jet and operating within Europe. He blogs during his free time about his travels around Europe, lifestyle and of course, all things Aviation. For his first contribution to Airside, Pilot Ferdi wrote an article that all pilots need to heed entitled, “Ways to stay fit on a layover”. This helpful article included exercises you can do in the hotel, tips on which foods to eat, and insights on staying hydrated and in a good frame of mind.
Regional airline pilot and First Officer, Pilot Drew, shared his story on how to get the necessary hours you need after flight school. In his Airside video, Andrew spoke on his experience gaining flying hours as an aerial tour pilot as well as a pipeline pilot looking for pipeline leaks in West Texas as opposed to accumulating hours as a flight instructor. Apparently, it worked well because in only 14 months, he got the hours he needed to be hired as a pilot for an airline flying Embraer aircraft.
First Officer Laxmi Shailesh Joshi is type rated on Airbus (319/320/321) & Boeing 777 - 300ER, Boeing 777 - 200LR. Becoming a pilot was her childhood dream and she grew older, she could not think about doing anything else. In her interview on Airside, Pilot Laxmi sent out a message of inspiration to pilots around the globe of “Do not lose hope and stay current.” In her interview Pilot Laxmi provided good advice to new and current pilots about staying current as the opportunities will always come and you should be ready to grab them. Born in Sweden and living and working in Belgium, Suzy the Pilot also goes by the name of
Susanna Sundberg. In addition to her article about the Power of Positivity, Suzy the Pilot wrote the highly entertaining article entitled, “Top 5 Unforgettable Airports”, which included stunning photos of each airport taken from the observer seat! The top 5 airports ranged from a busy city airport to an airport between mountains and waterfalls, an airport hidden in the fjords, a gravel strip in the desert and finally, a spectacular field in western Mongolia.
An instructor pilot in the US Air Force Reserves, Captain Jon Millmann has over 3,000 hours in the C-17 Globemaster III. As a First Officer on the 737 with American Airlines but currently on furlough status, Jon used his personal experience to help other pilots get through these difficult times in his article for Airside entitled, “5 Ways to Stay Positive During Furloughs”. His advice was helpful, practical and just want was needed for furloughed pilots to stay positive.
An airline pilot from The Netherlands based in Hong Kong, after flying passengers around Europe with the Boeing 737, Eva now flies cargo around the world with the Boeing 747. She’s also a prolific Instagram poster with nearly 200,000 followers! Eva contributed the article, “How to Prepare for an Airline Pilot Interview in a (Post) COVID Reality.” In which she offered helpful tips and advice to furloughed pilots.
For Jassi Kapoor, becoming a pilot was a childhood dream. “I want to fly in the sky.” was the quote written on all of her notebooks on the first page. In addition to being Captain of an A-320, Jassi is a prominent influencer on Instagram who is ruling the skies as well as our hearts. In the Airside video entitled, “Join the New Digital Community created for Pilots by Pilots"", she shares her experiences during industry ups and downs, and emphasizes how our community is key to helping us all get through tough times.
