Since its debut in 1948, the Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) has been the most important global platform for the aerospace, aviation, and defense industry. Held every two years in mid-July at Farnborough Airport in Hampshire, England, the FIA is where attendees connect with influencers, gain valuable insight into industry trends, and experience state-of-the-art technology via a showcase of flying and static displays.
Today as one of the world’s largest aerospace events, the FIA draws more than 80,000 trade visitors from around the globe. This week-long event combines a major trade exhibition for both civil and defense organizations with a public airshow. Here, some 1500 exhibitors representing 96 countries provide a diverse range from every sector and tier of the industry. Moreover, the FIA provides a forum to share and discuss the major topics and trends affecting the aerospace industry today. The event features a program of talks, panels, and Q&A sessions from today's aerospace pioneers, inspirational figures, and industry leaders who are driving the industry forward.
At the show’s flying display, attendees have a bird's eye view of today's most advanced jets and commercial aircraft taking to the skies, while the static display offers the opportunity to get up close with pioneering aircraft on the ground. Throughout its storied history, the FIA has seen the debut of many famous aircraft, including the passenger Vickers VC10, Eurofighter and Lockheed F-35 fighters, and the giant Airbus A380 airliner.
A key theme of the FIA is order announcements in aircraft sales, jet engines, new technologies, and more from industry leaders and government representatives from around the world. Many major airlines firm their orders at the show, while others wait until the show to announce previously confirmed orders. When FIA was last held in 2018, it saw more than $192 billion worth of deals completed.
In addition to providing a range of new business opportunities, the FIA offers the ultimate networking opportunity for its global audience. With key organizations and global influencers all under one roof, it puts attendees in front of the right people This year, the airshow's networking opportunities have been expanded with the launch of the Business Connection Exchange, the evolution of turnkey chalets, and a new Space Zone located at the Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre.
